We go to extraordinary lengths to produce the special driving experience offered by the E-Class.

The E 350 4MATIC™ Sedan features a V-6 engine that produces 268 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque, giving you plenty of power to get the most out of everyday driving. Performance goes a step further on the E 550 4MATIC™ Sedan with its V-8 engine. The key data: 5.5-litre displacement, 382 hp and 391 lb-ft of torque. The result: a sublime driving experience, whatever the situation. Thanks to a lower final drive ratio, we were able to lower the engine speed level – and with it, the noise level.

It's amazing how quiet the six cylinder E-Class BlueTEC diesel engine runs while delivering exemplary power in any driving condition. The E 350 BlueTEC Sedan has a maximum power output of 210 hp, impressive 400 lb-ft of peak torque and a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of 7.8 seconds. Equipped with our next generation BlueTEC technology, this turbo-charged engine also meets the world's toughest exhaust emission regulations, while AdBlue injection, employing both the common-rail direct injection principle and a special particulate filter, makes it one of the world's cleanest diesel engines, eliminating more than 80 per cent of nitrous oxide emissions.

With seamless performance and up to 1,176 km per tank^[1], the E 350 BlueTEC Sedan is yet another important step closer to the Mercedes-Benz goal of emission-free mobility.

Transmissions

All E-Class models combine magnificent power delivery with economy and environmental compatibility, because fitted standard on all E-Class models is the 7G-TRONIC, 7-speed automatic transmission. This engineering masterpiece ensures barely perceptible shifts through the entire range of gears.

Along with intelligent transmission programming that learns and adapts itself to your personal driving style, 7G-TRONIC can skip several gears for responsive stopping power or when downshifting for quick bursts of speed. It also boasts a second reverse gear with a higher transmission ratio to make pulling away on ice and snow easier and safer. You can change gears using the steering wheel shift paddles or leave the job to the automatic transmission.

The seven forward gears in the 7G-TRONIC allow an ideally adapted engine speed at all times, thus reducing fuel consumption. The shorter shift times and smoother shifts make gear changes that much easier, as well as reduce the noise level, which all combined result in the perfected driving experience you would expect from such an advanced machine.

Handling

Fine wood and sumptuous materials aren't the only factors that help create the exceptional comfort you'll experience in the E-Class Sedan. The silence of the E-Class is legendary. Credit for the low noise levels inside the vehicle goes in part to the measures taken to isolate engine sound. This and further extensive sound-absorbing measures mean that, while you'll hear a lot about the E-Class, you won't hear a lot from it.

Further to its almost imperceptible engines and transmissions, the E-Class' enhanced DIRECT CONTROL package gives you more driving enjoyment, particularly through corners, with no loss of ride comfort. Direct steering and reduced pitch and roll help to create a more agile driving experience.

All of this is taken to an even higher level with standard AIRMATIC DC air suspension^[1] on the E 550 4MATIC™ Sedan. AIRMATIC DC uses the Adaptive Damping System (ADS) to reduce body roll when cornering. If the sensors detect a sporty driving style, the comfortable default suspension setting is automatically firmed up. AIRMATIC DC is self-levelling and maintains a constant ride height for greater stability and improved handling. At high speeds, the body is automatically lowered to reduce roll and pitch.

Mercedes-Benz is the first and only automaker to offer built-in technology to help you drive safer and protect you in the event of danger and after an accident. The E-Class Sedan is no exception, it is the rule.

Technology made up of active safety features like the "control and display" concept, minimize distractions from the road. Systems that provide support in critical situations and alert the driver to potential hazards – such as our Electronic Stability Program (ESP®) and integrated Brake Assist (BAS) system^[1d] - are cornerstones of the safety design. The vehicle's safety technology activates in the event of danger, including anytime evasive steering maneuvering is detected, and it takes precautionary measures to reduce the risk of injury to occupants. But thanks to standard Active Bi-Xenon headlamps, you will now be able to detect obstacles earlier than previously possible.

E 63 AMG
The most powerful E-Class comes courtesy of the Mercedes-Benz AMG motor sport experts. The E 63 AMG Sedan has 518 hp and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds. And 516 lb-ft of torque ensures that acceleration from any other speed is an equally breathtaking experience. The top speed is electronically governed at 250 km/h, but there are no limits to the driving pleasure offered. That's partly due to the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed transmission with rapid shift times. The four shift programs give you a choice between a Controlled Efficiency, Sport or Sport Plus mode, as well as a manual mode that lets you change gears using AMG shift paddles mounted to the steering wheel.
