Stuttgart. Mercedes-Benz is extending its multimedia presence with the simultaneous release of three new apps, providing an even more versatile range of products for people on the move. Two of the new apps – the B-Class Guide, a useful online supplement to the printed manual, and the SL Bodywork App personal trainer – are now available free of charge. Both come in two versions, for downloading to Android smart phones and iPhones®, respectively.

Stuttgart – Elegant, fast, breathtakingly beautiful and technically innovative: the stunning SL-Class sports cars have represented the Mercedes-Benz brand around the world for the past 60 years. Their story of success began with the victories recorded by the 300 SL racing car (W 194) at prestigious international races in 1952. This provided the initial spark for the 300 SL Gullwing (W 198 I, built from 1954) and 190 SL (W 121, from 1955) production vehicles. Later model series of this powerhouse car – the W 113 'pagoda' and the R 107, R 129 and R 230 – brought the SL-Class seamlessly into the new millennium.

Chemainus Valley Courier: April 2012 I recently had an opportunity to test drive the new all-electric Smart EV, courtesy of Three Point Motors in Victoria. My friend and neighbour Gord Skrepnek drove us there in his diesel Smart Fortwo. The Smart EV is nearly identical to the two-seat gasoline or diesel powered Smart cars that have been sold in recent years. The model that will be made available later this year will be an updated version of the one we test drove, with a more powerful 75 hp engine, a larger battery with a range of 140 km and a top speed of 120 kph. Sales and leasing consultant Tanya Blake gave us a quick briefing on the EV before we set off. Under the hood, three easily accessible reservoirs contain windshield washer, engine coolant and brake fluid. Inside a storage compartment in the rear fold-down hatch is a recharging cord that can be plugged into any standard 110 volt socket, providing a full charge in under eight hours. With a soon to be available 240 volt unit, the battery can be fully charged in three hours or go from 20 per cent to 80 per cent capacity in about 20 minutes.

Stuttgart/Munich – After almost 33 years of unbroken production, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class remains unparalleled. This was the opinion of the "Off Road" magazine readers, who voted the G-Class "Off-roader of the year 2012" in two categories – making it a repeat of last year's success for the off-road legend. The G-Class eased to victory in the "Luxury off-roader" category and defended its top spot in the "Classic" category. The new M‑Class, eligible for the first time having been unveiled just last year, achieved second place in the "Luxury SUV" and "Newcomer" categories.

Stuttgart. The spring of 2012 will see the smart fortwo making its mark in a striking new look, featuring an upgraded exterior and a fresh leather/fabric mix in the interior. The smart fortwo is available for ordering now. The first vehicles will reach dealers at the end of May.
The substantially revamped smart fortwo sports a markedly more dynamic appearance, featuring a larger radiator grille with integrated logo, striking front aprons in a new design, horizontally arranged LED daytime driving lights, muscular side skirts and modified rear aprons. "The way in which the fortwo now displays the smart logo more prominently stands for the brand's new self-confidence," notes smart boss Dr Annette Winkler."
